Louise Trichardt

After our epic ride yesterday we rest today. As if the universe knew what was coming I did not schedule any riding for today. Our campsite has a concrete platform with a roof which means that the morning sun does not chase you out at 6 am. I am up nonetheless because of an aching body.

Since we got in late last night I took some time to explore a bit to see what is around us. I find a washing machine at the ablution block for which I am grateful. It is a short trip so normally there would not be a need to wash anything. But due to us rolling in the mud for most of yesterday it is nice to throw all the dirty stuff into a machine.

By the time we were ready for breakfast, washing was done. I checked Google maps and found a place with great ratings just 6 km away in Louise Trichardt. The one thing you learn quickly about advertising on the internet is that there is a better-than-good chance that you’re not going to get what you expect. So when we arrive it did not look like it did in the pictures but also it was closed.

We decided to buy some meat for a braai later in the evening and stop at the Mountain Inn hotel for breakfast. Upon arrival, we are the only people but they did serve us a great breakfast. Back at the campsite, I wash off most of the mud to check all the nuts, bolts and fluids.

When the sun set we light the fire, drink the last of our brandy, and throw some meat on the braai. A nice leisurely day in the bush. Tomorrow we head out on our way to Summerhill Game Reserve just outside Vaalwater.
