Tomorrow morning early(ish) we are planning to start our trip to the Cederberg. During the week I took some time to give Putin the once (or twice) over and replaced oil, filters, plugs, and checked valve clearances. Good thing I did because I found that there was basically no clearance on the righthand side. This means that once he reached operating temp the valves would not close properly.

With all the mechanical work done packing started. Because we’ll mostly be camping I had to get all the cooking gear out as well. I’m not really a big fan of going to bed hungry and found on previous trips that getting food on the way to the next overnight stop is not always as cool as it sounds. The little shop you thought will be on your route is no more, or there simply are no little shops, and then you have to make detours or make do with water. This time I thought I’d try something a bit different, taking some dried food. Found this place, Mama Alles, on Facebook. They make ready meals for hiking and 4×4 adventures. Since it’s dry you don’t need any refrigeration. Looks yummy so let’s see how that works.

Hopefully, this is everything.

We had some weird weather this morning at 5 am. Heavy thunder and downpour for about 30 minutes and then the sun came out. I have no issues with riding in the rain but am not really fond to start in the rain. So I’m hoping this won’t happen again tomorrow when we leave. Here is holding thumbs.
