With just over a day to go preparation for tools and spares is finally done. I’m lucky enough to have two donor bikes so I could get most of the spares I needed from them. I will be stretching the service interval a bit and will only do one full service (oil and filter). The pusher on the Ural can be quite heavy on tire wear so I have decided to rotate tires as we ride different road surfaces using the more aggressive knobbly when we go off-road only. With 3 interchangeable wheels, we should be able to complete the whole trip.
After our last multiday trip, which included a 15-hour stage (just stopping for fuel) I decided it was time for a more comfortable perch. The tractor seat has really done a number on my ass so I invested in an AirRider. I just did short trips but it does feel very comfortable so I have high hopes for our long days on the trip
